What exactly is riv?

Riv is an AI assistant in your Mac’s notch that starts from what you need, not a prompt. You say it in your own words, like you’d tell a friend, and riv works out the solution: an answer, the steps drawn over your app, or the job done in the background. When the same thing keeps coming up, Riv clones himself, and the copy takes it over for good.

How is riv different from other AI assistants?

Most AI tools leave the hard part to you: working out which tool fits what you need, then writing the prompt and setting it up. Riv skips that. You never pick a mode or build an automation. You say what you need, and riv works out the solution, including whether to clone himself to keep it solved from then on.

How does riv decide whether to answer, show me, or do it?

From what you say and what’s on your screen. A question gets an answer in the notch. A solution worth learning gets its steps drawn over your app, a dotted box round each button, one step at a time. A job gets done in the background, with every step on one card you can check or undo. You can always just say which you want.

What is my crew?

When the same thing keeps coming up, Riv clones himself to look after it. Each copy gets its own name, its own colour and one job, like Sweep for keeping your Mac tidy or Spark for post ideas. Together they’re your crew. They live in your notch, do their jobs on their own, and let you know when there’s news.

Do I have to set up my crew?

No. When riv finishes a job that will come back, it offers in the same reply: “Done. Want me to do this every Monday?” Say yes and Riv clones himself to take it on. A new job that fits someone already on your crew goes to them, so the crew stays small. When you first open riv, it asks a few questions and may start one or two for you.

Does my crew need my Mac to be on?

Jobs that need your Mac, like tidying files, run while it’s awake, and a run it missed happens once when you’re back. Jobs that don’t, like finding ideas on the web, can run with the lid closed.

Can riv actually do things in my apps?

Yes. Riv works across your Mac and your connected apps in the background, from filing a download to sending an email or collecting research in Notion, while you keep working. The demos on this page are illustrative and don’t connect to your accounts.

What does riv see and do without asking?

Riv only looks at your screen, listens, or acts when you ask. Your crew only does the jobs you said yes to, and you can see and undo what they did.

What counts as a run?

One request is one run, however many steps it takes, and each job your crew does is one run too. Free includes 20 runs a month, Pro includes 150, and Crystal includes 600.

Which Macs will it work on?

Riv is being built for Apple Silicon Macs running macOS 14 or later.

Can I download riv yet?

Riv is coming soon to Mac. In the meantime, explore the demos and tell us what you’d want riv to do.

Where is the $RIVBOT contract address?
