The terms for using Riv.

Who we are

Riv is an AI assistant for the Mac, made by Vansitha Ratnayake. "We" means the people behind Riv, and "you" means the person using it. Our privacy policy explains what we collect and why.

Your account

• You need an account to use Riv, and you must be at least 13 years old. To buy a paid plan you must be 18, or have a parent's permission.
• Keep your sign in to yourself. You're responsible for what happens on your account.
• One free plan per person. Making extra accounts to get more free runs isn't allowed.

Plans and payments

Every plan gets a number of runs each month. A run is one thing you ask Riv to do, however many steps it takes, and each job your crew does is one run too.

• Payments are handled by Polar, our merchant of record. Polar is the seller on your receipt and takes care of sales tax and VAT.
• Paid plans renew every month until you cancel.
• Your runs refill at the start of each billing month. Runs you don't use don't carry over.
• If we change our prices, we'll tell you at least 30 days before your next renewal.

Cancelling

You can cancel at any time from the billing page Riv opens for you. Your plan stays active until the end of the month you paid for, then moves to Free. We don't give partial refunds for the rest of that month.

Refunds

The free plan gives you 20 runs a month, so you can try Riv before you pay. If you do pay and change your mind:

• First payment. Email [email protected] within 14 days of your first payment for a full refund, as long as you've used less than 20% of your plan's runs since you paid (30 on Pro, 120 on Crystal).
• Renewals. If a renewal catches you by surprise, email us within 48 hours and we'll refund it, as long as you haven't used Riv since it renewed.
• Billing mistakes, like being charged twice, are always refunded in full.

Refunds go back to your original payment method through Polar. When a payment is refunded, your plan moves back to Free. Some countries give you extra refund rights by law. If yours does, you keep them.

What Riv does on your Mac

• Riv uses AI, and AI makes mistakes. Check anything important before you rely on it.
• When Riv does a job for you, it acts in your apps and the services you connected, on your behalf. Riv is set to ask before anything risky, and you can stop a job at any time.
• Your crew only does the jobs you said yes to. You can see what they did, and delete any of them.
• You're responsible for the jobs you give Riv and for following the rules of the apps and services it uses for you.

Your content

What you ask Riv and what Riv makes for you belongs to you. You give us permission to handle it only as far as we need to run Riv for you, as the privacy policy describes.

Fair use

Don't use Riv to:

• break the law or harm anyone,
• get into accounts, apps or data you aren't allowed to use,
• send spam or run large automated campaigns,
• make content that is sexual, hateful, or infringes someone else's rights,
• copy, resell or reverse engineer Riv, or get around its run limits.

If an account breaks these rules, we may pause or close it. Unless the breach is serious, we'll write to you first.

Changes to Riv

We keep improving Riv, so features may change or be removed. We'll try to keep Riv running all the time, but we can't promise it will never be down.

Closing your account

You can stop using Riv at any time, and delete your account in Riv's settings. We can close accounts that break these terms. If we ever shut Riv down, we'll tell you at least 30 days before, and refund the unused part of any paid month.

Limits on our responsibility

Riv is provided as it is. As far as the law allows, we don't give any promises beyond the ones in these terms, and we aren't responsible for indirect losses such as lost profits or lost data. Our total responsibility to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits rights you have that the law says can't be limited.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change, we'll update the date at the top. For big changes we'll tell you in the app or by email at least 14 days before they take effect. If you keep using Riv after that, you agree to the new terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Sri Lanka. If you live somewhere whose consumer laws give you more protection, you keep that protection.
